This year, the Medical Fitness Association in conjunction with the Medical Fitness Association Education Committee will observe the 11th Annual Medical Fitness Week from April 20-26, 2015. The week-long campaign aims to promote the importance of physical activity in improving the overall health of people of all ages.
With American obesity reaching record numbers in recent years, this campaign is a strong platform to encourage people to lead a healthy lifestyle. It highlights the core principle of exercise in maintaining physical fitness. The event promotes and supports exercise and physical activity programs that encourage people to carry out their routine activities, combat various medical conditions and improve their overall health and well being.
As part of this week-long campaign, specialty healthcare centers, medical fitness centers and healthcare agencies offer wide range of programs including seminars, health fairs, educational events, presentations, open houses, and contests that focus on teaching families the skills they require to develop healthy lifestyle habits.
The 2015 Medical Fitness Week event will include two programs – MOVE150 and WALK10K. The MOVE150 program focuses on getting participants moving, regardless of their abilities. The program provides a unique platform for healthcare centers to offer a variety of fitness programs that would allow participants to cover 150 minutes of activity throughout the week. Participants will be provided with complimentary materials.
The WALK10K is a walking challenge that encourages more movement by striving to cover 70,000 steps in seven days or 10,000 steps per day. This equates to only 5 miles a day. Walking is the easiest way to incorporate physical activity into your lifestyle. The walking challenge involves wearing a pedometer and tracking how many steps you take each day. Anyone can participate in this challenge as it is free. In addition, numerous group walks will be arranged as part of the challenge. The registration for the both the programs are complimentary to all medical fitness centers who wish to increase physical activity levels in all ages within their community.
Join the Medical Fitness Week celebration! Develop sound physical activity habits that will go a long way in keeping you healthy.
