“National Healthcare Quality Week” is observed during the fourth week of October in the United States. Sponsored by the National Association for Healthcare Quality (NAHQ), the campaign aims to recognize and highlight the significant contributions made by health professionals to improve healthcare quality. In 2019, the week-long campaign will be observed from October 20- 26.
According to reports from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), healthcare is the fastest growing sector of the US economy, employing about 18 million workers (2018 statistics). It is estimated that healthcare centers serve about 28 million patients in the United States. In fact, one in every fifteen people living in the US depends on healthcare services.
Healthcare quality professionals are invaluable to the success of an organization and they are continually looking for the next improvement opportunity, says “NAHQ President Nancy Curdy.” Considering this fast-moving and complex working environment, the need for trained and qualified healthcare professionals and their prominent role in improving and achieving best outcomes cannot be overlooked. The 2019 week-long campaign is designed to bring greater recognition for the impactful contributions made by pain management and rehabilitation centers towards improving the health and well-being of patients and communities across the country and the world.
Pain management doctors and other healthcare professionals take important steps to contribute to organizations and communities around the globe by effectively monitoring existing new processes and outcome measures, integrating new evidence-based practices into healthcare delivery, keeping patients safe and limiting risk elements.
Throughout this week-long campaign, multi-specialty healthcare centers, pain management and rehabilitation centers, hospitals, medical fitness centers and other healthcare institutions will conduct special programs to raise awareness about healthcare professionals’ role in advancing healthcare quality in their organizations. Participants can download the healthcare quality week materials from the NAHQ website and use for their channels and activities.
